Bespoke Service

Our expert team will help you plan your trip to Northern Spain, creating a route to fit with your preferred flights and dates.

Day 1

Barcelona

Officially this tour starts in Barcelona and ends in Bilbao, but it can actually be taken in the reverse direction if it suits you better.

After arriving at the airport, collect your rental car and drive to your hotel. The afternoon has been left free for you to relax and enjoy the city.

We can arrange a walking tour of Barcelona if you want to get up close and personal straight away, taking in many of the major sights such as the atmospheric Gothic Quarter, the famous Gaudi monuments and the buzzing Las Ramblas avenue.

DAY 2

Monserrat & Penedes

Visit the astounding Benedictine monastery clinging to the side of the Montserrat Mountain, followed by an exclusive tasting session of bubbly at the contemporary Cordorníu winery in the lush Penedès cava region.

At the monastery you can hear the famous boys’ choir, take a guided tour of the 11th century monastery and visit the famous sanctuary of the Black Virgin.

Day 3

Priorat

The remote, slate landscape of the hilly Priorat wine region is renowned for its intense reds, and it’s here you head today to find out why its wines have an almost revered reputation (and often a lofty price tag).

It’s not just fine wine that this small region is famous for though. You’ll also have a chance to visit an ancient olive mill, witness ancient cave paintings and perhaps head underground at the Bellmunt Mines where lead was excavated until as recently as the mid-1970s.

Day 4

Somontano

Somontano in the province of Huesca is one of the most beautiful wine regions in the whole of Spain. Stretching from the foothills of the Pyrenees to the Ebro Valley, as well as delectable wines, this dreamy area is home to preserved medieval villages, romantic Roman castles, and a unique dramatic landscape.

Day 5 & 6

La Rioja

Perhaps the most famous of all Spain’s wine regions, La Rioja is home to hundreds of wineries, both modern and historic. Spend the day walking through the vineyards with a local wine expert; sample two of the area’s most emblematic labels; and visit an ancient village for a traditional Riojan feast.

If you want to get more hands-on, we can help arrange a grape harvesting experience or other vineyard activities.

Day 7 & 8

Bilbao & Txakolina

The last days of the tour take you to beautiful Basque country where you’ll find incredible scenery, amazing beaches and magnificent cuisine, as well as a unique and proud culture, and the wonderful, slightly fizzy Txakolina (or Txakoli) wine that’s produced in the area.

It goes without saying that one of the highlights of your guided city tour is that marvel of contemporary architecture, the Guggenheim Museum. Depending on your interests, we can recommend plenty of other great things to see and do in and around the city.

At the pre-arranged time, a taxi will pick you up and transfer you to the airport for your flight home.

We don’t deal in one-size-fits-all holidays. We build amazing journeys tailored just for you. But before we can do that, we need to know about you – what excites you, what are your ‘must-sees’ and ‘must do’s’, and conversely, what do you want to avoid or what makes you feel indifferent. We don’t do indifferent, and neither should you!
